CBSE now gives Class 10 students a second sitting of the board exam, and the best of the two scores counts. Maths is the paper most students go back for. If the first result was not what it should have been, the weeks between the two sittings are enough — if they are spent on the right chapters in the right order.

How the second sitting works
CBSE’s two-exam system for Class 10 gives every student a first, compulsory sitting early in the year and an optional second sitting some weeks after the results. A student may reappear in up to three subjects, and the higher of the two scores is the one on the certificate. In 2026, more than 6.6 lakh students registered for the second sitting, and Maths Standard was the second most-reappeared subject after science. Dates for the current year should be confirmed on cbse.gov.in.
Why the weeks between the two sittings are enough
The gap is narrow, not wide. A student who scored in the forties or fifties in the first sitting is usually losing marks in three or four chapters, not fifteen. The first-attempt paper tells us exactly which.
The syllabus is known and fixed. There is nothing new to learn — only what was not understood the first time, taught differently, and then practised against the board’s own mark weightage.
The deadline is real. A fixed exam date is the best thing a study plan can have. We work backwards from it, chapter by chapter, with a revision cycle at the end.

Who teaches
Every session is taught by the director of Epigenesis Edu Private Limited, an alumnus of a Government Engineering College and IIM. There is no rotating panel, which is the practical reason the batch stops at eight. Ask us for parent references before you decide anything.
